Milaha Supports National Sports Day

  19 February 2013

Milaha supported and participated in Qatar’s National Sports Day with a fun-filled day of sports at the Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha.

Employees from across Milaha and its subsidiaries participated in an all-embracing program of fun sporting activities that was designed for all age groups and fitness strengths. Contestants and their families enthusiastically played each other in football, cricket, basketball, rope-pulling, relay running, three-legged racing and dance aerobics. Wii, face painting and other activities were also available for children and those who were unable to participate in the more physically demanding activities. Medals and cash vouchers were awarded at the end by Khalifa Ali Al-Hetmi, President & CEO of Milaha, to the winners of the Cricket and Football tournaments.

Mr. Al-Hetmi said “Milaha is proud to support Qatar’sNational Sports Day yet again this year. We are committed in engaging our employees, to encourage them to enjoy sport and in promoting a healthier lifestyle in Qatar”.

“It was an excellent opportunity for our management, staff, and their families to come together and enjoy the outdoors. This year, Al Arabi Sports Club player, Abdulaziz Hatem, joined our activities – the employees especially enjoyed taking photographs with him and leaving with a personalized signed and framed photo”.

A professional football specialist known for his football tricks was also flown in from Greece just for the occasion. He showed the staff his tricks and even illustrated and taught some of the children how to imitate them.

As part of Milaha’s continued support of a healthy lifestyle, the company is currently evaluating other means of supporting health initiatives, including sporting activities for staff and their families, in addition to the wider community.
