Milaha organized a group-wide Sports Day on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha to mark Qatar’s celebration of National Sports Day and in support of the government’s vision to establish the country as a premier global sports hub. Now in its third year, Milaha’s 3rd National Sports Day event attracted over 1,000 sports enthusiasts who participated in various sports events that included cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, mini-marathon, obstacle course, among other activities for both adults and children.
Employees and their families from across Milaha and its subsidiaries participated in an extensive program of activities that was designed for all age groups and fitness strengths. Contestants enthusiastically battled each other in six-a-side football, cricket, basketball, rope-pulling, relay running, marathon, and volleyball. Foosball, table tennis, air hockey, face painting and other activities were also available for those who were unable to participate in the more physically demanding activities. Gold and silver medals were awarded at the end for each sporting activity.
HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman & Managing Director who took part in yesterday’s activities said “Milaha is proud to support Qatar’s National Sports Day, yet again, and we are committed to promoting a more active and healthier lifestyle in Qatar. This annual event has become an important and integral part of Milaha’s calendar. We also look at it as a great way to build camaraderie among our people. Besides the sporting aspect, it was an excellent opportunity for our management, staff and families to come together and enjoy spending time with each other outdoors.”
As part of this year’s activities, approximately 1,000 employees, spouses and children joined together to form a massive human logo of the Milaha brand, covering an area of 200 sqm.
