Milaha has successfully completed a best practice Five Star Occupational Health and Safety Audit conducted by the British Safety Council, making it one of the very few companies in Qatar to hold the coveted five-star grading. This achievement demonstrates Milaha’s commitment towards the continuous improvement of its health and safety management systems and associated arrangements.
Commenting on this achievement, Milaha’s Senior Vice President for Support Services Mr. Saleh Al Haroon said: “Health and safety are of paramount importance to us at Milaha which is why we actively seek to implement best practice policies in line with international standards. The British Safety Council five-star grading underlines our commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety standards to our employees, clients, and other stakeholders, and it goes far beyond the requirements of health and safety management systems. We thank our partners at the British Safety Council, and we are very proud to be among the first companies to attain this five-star grading in Qatar.”
For his part, David Parr, Policy and Technical Services Director at the British Safety Council, said: “The award of a five-star grading following our occupational best practice Health and Safety Audit is an outstanding achievement and is reflective of a proactive organisation which is committed to continual improvement in its health and safety arrangements and managing risks to workers’ health, safety and welfare.”
As part of the audit, Milaha underwent a comprehensive, quantified, and robust evaluation of its occupational health and safety policies, processes, and practices. The audit process included documentation review, interviews with senior management, employees and other key stakeholders, in addition to sampling of operational activities. The audit measured performance against key health and safety management best practice indicators and a detailed review of over sixty component elements.
