Muntajat Signs 2-Year Gas Carrier Time Charter Contract with Milaha

  19 July 2014

Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) Q.J.S.C. signed a 2-year contract with Qatar Navigation Q.S.C. (Milaha) for the time charter of the LPG/C ALMARONA to primarily transport Ammonia exports from Qatar to Muntajat customers around the world.

The contract was signed in a ceremony held in Doha by HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, Chairman and Managing Director of Milaha and Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla, Chief Executive Officer of Muntajat. The LPG/C ALMARONA is a 22,500 (CBM) capacity gas carrier and is fully owned and managed by Qatar Shipping Company, a fully owned subsidiary of Milaha. “We have, over the years, built a close relationship with QAFCO and more recently with Muntajat, and we are very pleased to be able to extend this relationship.” said HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani. “In keeping with Milaha’s continued commitment to safety and the protection of the environment, this ship has been retrofitted with the latest available energy efficiency enhancing devices, which includes the Mewis Duct amongst others, together with the implementation of Energy Management Systems of world leading providers. This would definitely enhance the operational efficiency and lower the fuel consumption.

We aim to continue to serve Muntajat in the best possible manner and bring added value to this sector for Qatar.” Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla said: “We are delighted to expand our collaboration with Milaha through this second agreement for this year. This agreement is in line with our vision of establishing Muntajat as the world leader in the marketing and distribution of Qatar’s chemical and petrochemical products.”

“Muntajat’s partnership with Milaha will reinforce our efforts in strengthening the reputation of the “Made in Qatar” brand in the global industry. The Milaha’s Gas Carrier Time Charter was selected over competing international vessels as it complements our safety and reliability standards in delivering our products to customers worldwide.” Added Mr. Al-Abdullah.

Earlier this year, Muntajat signed a 2-year feedering transport agreement with Milaha to export Qatar’s production of polymers and melamine to Muntajat customers around the world.
