Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) Q.J.S.C. signed a 2-year agreement with Qatar Navigation Q.S.C. (Milaha) to transport petrochemicals exports from Qatar.
The agreement covers the containerized exports of polymers and melamine for Muntajat from Mesaieed to key hub ports in the region, from where major international shipping lines will carry these exports to their final destinations worldwide.
The contracts were signed in a ceremony held in Doha by HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, Chairman and Managing Director of Milaha and Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla, Chief Executive Officer of Muntajat.
As part of the agreement, Milaha is also responsible for re-positioning empty containers back to Mesaieed. Total annual volume of exports alone is expected to reach approximately 150,000 TEU (Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit).
“We have, over the years, built a close relationship with QAPCO, Q-Chem, Qatofin, and more recently with Muntajat, and we are very pleased to be able to extend and expand this relationship.” said HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani. “Our fleet of 8 fully-cellularised container vessels is ideal to cater for our partners’ requirements. We aim to continue to serve them in the best possible manner and bring added value to this critical sector for Qatar.”
Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla said: “We are proud to be collaborating with Milaha, one of the oldest established companies in Qatar, to bring Qatar’s chemical and petrochemical exports to the world. This agreement between two Qatari companies represents the strong partnerships that will help carry the ‘Made in Qatar’ brand to the world. We are continuously looking for such strategic partnerships with local companies that will benefit our local economy.”
